School visits from authors and
illustrators are an excellent
opportunity for students to see that
writing and drawing are real ways for people to make a living.
I try to introduce children to the joys of
writing so they can see it as something they want to do, not
just something they have to do...

My school presentations vary
depending on the needs of the school, but typically they
include the following:
- Discussion about the process of
writing and illustrating a children’s book, from
the initial idea to the final product.
- A fun behind the scenes look at how my
books developed and changed over time.
- Drawing demonstrations and samples
of the actual artwork used in my books with explanations of how
it was created.
- Questions and answers so children
can learn the really important things like how old I am
and where I learned to draw...

Presentation Guidelines:
* Presentations for grades 1-6 are one
hour long each.
* I prefer to work with small groups of
students (3 - 4 classes at a time) so that children can really
get involved and ask questions.
* Specially priced books and free
teaching guides are available from the publisher.

Single Presentation - $325
1 Day Visit with 3 presentations - $750
1 Day Visit with 4 presentations - $950
2 or more consecutive days (3
presentations per day only) - $725 per day
*Travel fees apply for schools beyond 1
hour drive
