Procedures for Portrait Work:
I prefer to meet with clients to discuss
their individual needs and desires for each portrait. We will
most likely need to meet two times in order to make plans for
the portrait.
At the first meeting, we will discuss
format, size, background, and composition of the portrait.We
will also take several pictures in preparation for the rough
composition.
At the second meeting, we will look over
the pictures and decide on a final composition for the
portrait. We will then take several more reference pictures and
the client may sit for a brief modeling session so I can create
a brief sketch or color study.
After the second meeting, I will begin
work on the portrait, which will likely take several months,
depending on its size, complexity, and my current schedule. A
50% deposit is due before any work begins.
Portrait Prices:
Pencil (graphite and chalk on toned paper)
Face - approximate size 12” x
9” - $500*
Pencil (graphite and chalk)
Head and shoulders - approximate size
22” x 15” - $1,500*
Watercolor
Head and shoulders - approximate size
22” x 15” - $3,000*
*These prices are based on a single
subject with a simple background. Final price will be arranged
for individual projects before any work is begun.
Prices do not include framing, shipping,
or any travel charges for the artist, all of which are the
responsibility of the client.
